I really like and appreciate how you worked the natural landscape into the interior space of garage - saving the boulders and having them there. Brilliant.
I made a pilgramage back to Duluth in spring/summer '96 and rented a top-floor flat on Observation Hill. The commanding views of the Twin Ports, Lake Superior and the harbor were an unending stimulus. I especially enjoyed walking around the neighbourhood,,, there were stairways that descended the ridges in places too steep to put the avenues. I have a hunch you know what I mean. It seems that Salmela House imparts a healthy respect of the hillside topography and captures the essence of Duluth living.
